DISCIPLE: BECOMING DISCIPLES THROUGH BIBLE STUDY

A 34-week study that moves through the biblical story from Creation to the New Jerusalem. The hoped-for results of the program are to develop biblically nourished persons committed to live as disciples.

DISCIPLE: INTO THE WORD INTO THE WORLD

A 32-week study of Genesis, Exodus and Luke, Acts  for graduates of DISCIPLE: BECOMING DISCIPLES THROUGH BIBLE STUDY. This study emphasizes the rhythm of coming to God and going for God, of being in the Word and in the world individually and corporately.

    DISCIPLE: REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE

A 32-week study of The Prophets and The Letters of Paul available to graduates of DISCIPLE: BECOMING DISCIPLES THROUGH BIBLE STUDY.

DISCIPLE: UNDER THE TREE OF LIFE

A 32-week study of Old Testament Writings and the Gospel of John; 1,2,3 John; James; Jude and Revelation in the New Testament. This phase of Disciple is available to graduates of DISCIPLE: BECOMING DISCIPLES THROUGH BIBLE STUDY.

Each Gospel has its own way of portraying Jesus and expressing his significance. So each Gospel deserves to be heard in its own right. This study concentrates on the portraits of Jesus that emerge from the four Gospels. This class may be called a "hearing aid," carefully designed to help all readers listen more attentively in order to hear each Gospel story's witness to Jesus.   This thirty-week study is intended for graduates of DISCIPLE, but only DISCIPLE I is a prerequisite for this course

Christian Believer- Knowing God With Heart and Mind is a unique opportunity to know more of the doctrine of the Christian faith. This 30-week class emphasizes the relationship of worship, belief, and daily life. Why should you study doctrine?  - To understand the basic language and convictions that has shaped Christian faith over the centuries. - To study doctrine as a guide to understanding what distinguishes Christianity from other faiths.   -  To be equipped for living faithfully and for passing on the faith to others.

Companions in Christ  is a powerfully transforming small group experience in spiritual formation. The series explores classic spiritual practices, and invite participants to develop daily patterns that open their lives to a deepening relationship with God and one another.

A challenging study of the Bible, Theology and Ethics, utilizing videos of well known scholars and theologians.  We strongly encourage participants to have attended a Disciple I or Christian Believer class.

Renovare - Bringing the Church to churchesCovenant Discipleship  is a spiritual formation group utilizing Renovare resources that encourage a balanced spiritual life incorporating the practices and spiritual disciplines seen in Jesus’ life and the history of the Church.   We strongly encourage participants to have attended a Companion in Christ class.

Small Groups
Small Groups provide a great opportunity to grow spiritually and develop close relationships with others. We are always open, though, to new small groups that can start at any time and meet either in a home or at the church. These can be ongoing or meet for six – eight weeks with breaks in between. For more information, contact the Discipleship office. disciple@fumchs.com

Dinner Groups
Our Dinner Groups are composed of 6-10 people who get together once a month to eat and socialize. The groups are composed of single, married, young or young at heart. There will be a supper club scramble to divide into groups the first of each January. The groups meet through July then break until January 2009. Please contact Allison Miller truegrit3@earthlink.net ,if you would like to be included or have questions.

Knitwits
2nd Wednesdays, Room 205 (CLC), 1:00 p.m
The Knitwits invite all who would like to learn to quilt, knit, crochet, and embroider to their gatherings. Excellent mentors area available for one on one instruction. The group is  currently providing prayer shawls and baby blankets for our prayer ministry and jaunty hats for those undergoing chemotherapy.  If you are interested or would like to learn more, please feel free to drop in.

Mentor & Mentee
Mentors and Mentees is a group of “seasoned” women and younger women who meet periodically for dinner and fellowship.  There are currently three groups which usually consist of 12 women.  It’s a wonderful way for women to meet others of a different age group.  Meetings usually consist of a dinner, a devotion, and lively discussion of issues women face in their various roles.  Sometimes M&M’s just go out for a girl’s night.  If you would like to know more about M&M’s, join a group, or start a new group in the Fall, please contact Carol Jo Atkinson dratkinson@cablelynx.com  or Julie Holt julieholt@cablelynx.com.
