Angels
IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN BECOMING A GREETER,
CONTACT CANDY POIRIER @ 623-6668 EXT. 117
“ANGELS”
All
of these jobs are vital to the hospitality of our church. Every member must
function as a Greeter. Smiles and handshakes should flow freely, not
just with fellow members but with visitors as well. GREET EVERYONE. The
worst case scenario is that a Greeter welcomes a longtime member as if he were a
guest. However, if the congregation knows that the “Angels” (Greeters) are
working to help the congregation grow and help visitors to be more comfortable,
they will understand why the “Angels” are there. If a Greeter mistakenly greets
a long time member, two members of the congregation will get to know each other
better.
Below are job descriptions of the different
areas: Guests will form their first opinions from the initial contacts with
the Greeters.
- Curbside—If you are stationed at the Breezeway
or the Ramp entrance to the church, greet everyone and be of
assistance to those exiting their cars. Some may need assistance to the
Sanctuary or in need of directions for parking. Be sure you know the areas
available for parking. Have a map of the parking with you so you are able
to direct them efficiently.
- Greeting—One of the most important tasks for
the Greeters is simply to talk to the guests. You will be in the Sanctuary
or the CLC. In the Sanctuary, go around and greet all that have
already come in and/or seated. Be sure to welcome our members and guests
and conversations should be light and pleasant. One or two questions can
open the way for better conversations, such as— “We are happy to have you
this morning. What brings you to our congregation?” “Are you traveling
through this area?”
- Welcome Center—One person will be stationed at
the Welcome Center. This is the central hub of information regarding every
aspect of the church. Here you will help with and answer questions to those
wanting more information on the church and for visitors, provide them with a
Visitor bag filled with information.
- Visitor Tracking—Enter visitors on the computer
from the Registration and Attendance sheets collected each Sunday. This is
to be done each Sunday. This is made up of several volunteers.
