LIVING JOY          


A small group study designed to study further the 23rd Psalms with related stories and scripture from both the Old and New Testament.  Each week will correspond with the portion of the 23rd Psalm used in Worship. Led by Rev. Bill Sardin  The Zoom Small Group will meet on Thursdays, January 7 – February 11th, 2:30 pm. 




READING A LETTER OF JOY

Paul's Encouraging Words to the Philippians  

                                                 

Utilizing the Book of Philippians as well as other contemporary sources, this small group will dig into Paul’s encouragement to rejoice and remain steadfast despite life’s circumstances while he himself was in Prison.  Led by Rev J.J. Galloway  The Zoom Small Group will meet on Mondays, January 11 – February 8th, 6:30 pm.

Book of Joy

Nobel Peace Prize Laureates His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu have survived more than fifty years of exile and the soul-crushing violence of oppression. Despite their hardships—or, as they would say, because of them—they are two of the most joyful people on the planet.


In April 2015, Archbishop Tutu traveled to the Dalai Lama's home in Dharamsala, India, to celebrate His Holiness's eightieth birthday and to create what they hoped would be a gift for others. They looked back on their long lives to answer a single burning question: How do we find joy in the face of life's inevitable suffering?  They traded intimate stories, teased each other continually, and shared their spiritual practices. By the end of a week filled with laughter and punctuated with tears, these two global heroes had stared into the abyss and despair of our time and revealed how to live a life brimming with joy.

 

Our Bible study will interweave the 8 Pillars of Joy as promoted by Desmond Tutu and the Dalai Lama with Jesus’ Beatitudes.  Join us on our Zoom Small Group led by Rev. Teresa Holt on Mondays, 10:00 a.m., starting January 4 – February 1.  If you are unable to attend at this time period, let us know and we will be glad to see if there are enough interested for an evening group.
