children's music & Drama

Kids will worship through song. hand mime, and drama in FUMC Kid's Music Program!

Music is an important, lively way to connect to God.  We work with kids to teach them to worship through singing, dramatic acting, and even using hand-mime and music to bring them closer to God.

See some of the exciting parts of the program below!

drama squad for God

Do you like music and acting?

Then "Drama Squad for God" is perfect for you! Drama Squad students use music, acting, mime, and puppets to lead worship our services!  Practices are held on Wednesday afternoons from 4:30-5:30 pm as part of the Wednesday afterschool program.   Children are pulled out of the Wednesday afterschool rotation after having their snack and game time to participate in Drama classes with the weekly Bible story as part of their time in Drama.

illuminate choir

Age to participate 1st-5th grade.

The Illuminate choir uses white gloved hands to worship and praise God with Christian contemporary music during The ConneXion Worship Service and for special evening events in the Sanctuary.

A black light is used to illuminate the white gloves as the choir uses their hands to build a visual message set to music.  Students work an average of two months for an hour and a half a week to produce four minute hand-mime presentation for our congregation.

We are the youngest hand-mime choir in Hot Springs, Arkansas!  We work very hard each week on our assigned mime parts and end each class with a group power prayer.  Because of our age ranges and abilities, it is important to be at most practices.  Students are expected to make the scheduled worship date due to the inability to have someone with the ability to step in to substitute your part in the choir.

The choir typically practices on Wednesday nights from 6:00 pm-7:00 pm in the Christian Life Center's Almighty Arena (second floor children's wing) for about 6-8 weeks at a time. You are welcome to invite friends and you do not need to be a member of the church to be part of this worship group.  Black shirts and gloves are provided.  Participants are asked to furnish their own black pants and socks.

The next set of Illuminate rehearsals...TBA

kids' praise choir

1st-5th grade

The Kids' Praise Choir is a vocal choir for boys and girls wanting to worship God!  Most songs will be sung with accompaniment of a piano or guitar in worship.  Songs may be in the genre of traditional hymns or contemporary.

Students will have the opportunity to audition for a solo or a duet experience in worship.  Each class begins with vocal warm ups, rehearsal of songs, and ends with personal “highs and lows” of each week.

We have lots of grace in this class and you do not need to be an amazing vocalist!  You just need to love God and enjoy learning in a group of your peers.

The Kids' Praise Choir presents songs in the worship services several times throughout the year.  The choir also sings for special events like Hanging of the Greens service, the Grand Central Christmas Concert, and Easter services.

The choir practices on Wednesdays during our afterschool program.  Church attire is requested for most worship services.

quarter notes choir

PreK & Kindergarten Choir

This choir meets for rehearsals during our Wednesday after-school kids program "W.A.K." on Wednesdays from 5-5:30pm.  The music teacher comes to their classroom each Wednesday and teaches them praise and worship songs with hand motions.  They sometimes learn to play simple instruments like hand chimes or triangles.   They practice each week, so that they can serve in the Sunday worship services several times throughout the school year.
